RCNU has developed a relationship with NEDA, Neighborhood Development Alliance in St. Paul, an organization with three decades of experience working with minority communities in the Twin Cities area focusing on financial education and housing ownership.
In October 2019, RCNU organized a twenty people weeklong workshop taught by NEDA’s financial advisor, Roxanny Armendariz. Mostly women came for sessions on how to build the personal credit, navigate the new tax code, organize a family budget, and recognize areas where families waste money and many other topics.
The group met at the Emmaus Church community room in Northfield. The cake celebrated the $233,000 the group would save over 5 years if the group saved on non-essentials such as going out to eat, purchasing an expensive car or an expensive phone plan.
