At Mercado Local, we provide an art space for immigrant artists to showcase their work. This space called MAS, Mercado Local Arts, located in the second section of the areas we rent in the building, is visited weekly by customers of the marketplace in the front. MAS is used by the Comic Club, the Literary Arts and Community Threads/Hilos de la comunidad.

We also collaborate with community members to create vibrant murals. Our past projects include the mural at Just Food Co-Op, a local farm in Northfield and we are working to paint one wall of the building where Mercado Local is located.

We maintain a radio show in Spanish at the local radio station, KYMN, Barrio Latino. The show aims to bring important information and news in Spanish to the Spanish speaking communities in our area. We also interview immigrants for them to share their stories and hopes and we bring stories from other countries.

Since the 2026 winter we have launched Community Threads/Hilos de comunidad, crochet projects to bring people together, to work on our well being while we beautify our community while creating community across cultures and ethnicities.
